Michael leads content across Picnic, with a focus on making lending criteria and affordability assessments easier to understand for first-time buyers, home movers, self-employed borrowers, and property investors.

An experienced copywriter and editor, he’s been writing about mortgages and personal finance since 2012. Michael joined Haysto, our sister brand specialising in more complex mortgage scenarios, in 2024 and was closely involved in the creation of Picnic’s mainstream service ahead of its launch in 2025.

Before moving into financial content full-time, Michael spent eleven years at HSBC Bank as a senior wealth manager, working both in the UK and internationally. During this time, he also served as a director of two HSBC Group subsidiaries and holds a Financial Planning Certificate from the Chartered Insurance Institute.
